JITM(Jagannath Institute for Technology and Management, Paralakhemundi, Orissa)


Jagannath Institute for Technology and Management was established in the year 1997. JITM took birth out of the vision of Shri Alluri Murthy Raju and was established under the JITM trust. The institute was set up with the aim to bring technical education to the rural areas and producing highly skilled technical personnel with exceptional calibre for various sectors in the industry.


We are a self-financing institute and were affiliated to Berhampur University. JITM got affiliated to the Biju Pattnaik University Of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela from the academic year 2003 - 2004. The institute has also been granted recognition under the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).


JITM is spread over 70 acres and is surrounded by hills that add to the scenic beauty and create a tranquil atmosphere-an ideal environment for learning. JITM is situated in Paralakhemundi, a town of historical significance and famous for its culture in the Gajapati district of Orissa.


The institute has grown from its small beginnings since 1997. Today JITM boasts of sophisticated laboratories and support infrastructure across all departments. These include more than 200 Personal Computers with LAN controlled by high-end servers loaded with advanced software in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, PLC based trainers in the Instrumentation Lab, Computerized Process Controlled Communication Lab, Sophisticated equipments in Mass Transfer, Chemical Reaction Engineering and Process Control, Universal Testing Machine, Milling Machine, Precision Drilling Machine and a well equipped Fluid Mechanics Lab.


Since its inception, JITM has drawn upon the experience of highly qualified faculty. The institute today is proud of the fact that it has a strong and committed teaching fraternity. Our faculty have played a pivotal role in shaping the character of the institute as a center for excellence in imparting technical education. The institute has always been committed to strengthen its infrastructure and has established an optic fiber backbone for the campus-based intranet. It is upgrading its VSAT based internet connectivity by establishing 256-Kbps leased line, which runs through the entire campus. We are committed to provide seamless internet connectivity round the clock to all our students and faculty by the end of this academic year.

Mission



  • To create an atmosphere of a small residential technical institution of academic excellence measured by faculty quality, academic output, quality of students, alumni achievement and satisfaction of all stakeholders backed up by appropriate infrastructure which help create a conducive atmosphere for teaching, learning, research, development, training, reflection and contemplation.

  • To attract quality students in appropriate numbers and cater to their needs so that their potential can be fully developed. Students will be trained to a high level of self-confidence in their knowledge and ability ensuring highly ease of placement.

  • To develop programs in areas of community need such as vocational training for youth at affordable cost, orient the research & development activities to local needs and make technology work for local communities by making it focused on agriculture and related activities such as food preservation and processing, bio-technology, water harvesting, organic agriculture, low cost building technologies etc., collaborate with organizations such as Auroville Center for Scientific Research, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Bangkok) and Gandhigram Rural University, Tamilnadu etc. in such activities.

  • Take steps to initiate programs in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, bio-technology, agricultural engineering and agriculture/veterinary science in the long term as well as focused post-graduate programs in selected inter-disciplinary areas such as Disaster Mitigation, Alternative Energy Studies, Sustainability Science, Food Technology etc.

  • Create resource, training and demonstration centers in areas of appropriate technology relevant to local problems. These activities should be directly integrated with the research & development efforts of the faculty, students and staff, create production centers in areas of agriculture, horticulture, pisciculture, plant nursery, food processing and preservation with the objective of revenue generation as well as technology dissemination.

  • To achieve balanced growth and robust financial self sustainability including adequate return on investment of financial institutions and other investors including, but not largely dependent on student fees.
